Urlacher’s brother is the new Mettawa mayor

Casey Urlacher has what his famous brother, Brian, is seeking: a new job.

Casey Urlacher won Tuesday’s mayoral election in Mettawa, a rustic Lake County town with a population of about 550.

Urlacher, a political newcomer, defeated Jeff Clark 156-99 for the 4-year seat, according to unofficial vote totals. Clark was elected village trustee in 2011 and will remain on the village board to serve the remainder of his term.

The contentious election featured barbs between the two to replace Mayor Jess Ray, who chose not to run for re-election. Ray supported Urlacher in the campaign and chaired his campaign organization.
