Titles, checks a place to start
In this 2013 spring of renewal, rebirth and hope, I am very concerned about gun violence protection in the wake of the senseless killings that have recently occurred in Aurora, Oak Creek and Sandy Hook.
I know that people feel the need to own a gun for their physical protection, but what I fail to understand is the need for that gun to have a clip containing 30 to 50 bullets. I also do not understand why an assault riffle would be considered a necessity outside of a military situation.
I also feel that I have the right not to be shot with a possibly fatal wayward bullet or one fired by someone intent on a mass killing.
What if guns were required to have a title the same as cars? If you own it, you have a title; if you sell it, you pass the title; if you give it to someone, you pass the title.
We must start somewhere and perhaps we start with having universal background checks in place to keep guns out of dangerous hands. We must take action now to end senseless killings.
