Elgin can’t afford four more years

As a resident of Elgin since 1972, I believe I have some valid perspective of our three incumbent council candidates.

Bob Gilliam has spent 40 years in this position. Thank you Bob, for your service but as you stated on your Web page, you now live in Arizona. Flying in to vote the way you do only to scurry home leaving us to pay for your votes is not right. Someone who is a true Elgin resident deserves your seat.

Next we have Richard Dunne, who ran four years ago as a conservative on a platform to stop wasteful spending. But it turns out he is now a part of the tax and spend liberal group. He has have turned his back on us and has joined up with the big spenders on the council.

John Prigge, on the other hand, lives here and is not a tax and spender like the rest. He has been the only one out of the others to speak up for taxpayers. Because he lives here he has been able to attend our block meetings on short notice. We finally have someone who lives in Elgin 100 percent of the time and dares to vote no on nonsense spending.

Gilliam and Dunne have hurt this city in the past four years and I cannot afford any more of their kind of government. Prigge belongs back on the council.
