Officials investigating human remains found in Woodridge

DuPage County officials are investigating human skeletal remains found by two children in Woodridge on Saturday.

Woodridge police responded about 1:30 p.m. Saturday to a wooded area in the 7900 block of Lemont Road after two children out for a walk located what appeared to be skeletal human remains, according to a release from Sgt. Anthony Johnson.

Police, in cooperation with the DuPage County Coroner, the DuPage County Sheriff's Office Forensic Unit, and the Felony Investigative Assistance Team (FIAT), recovered evidence which was turned over to the DuPage County Coroner for further analysis.

Officials have not yet identified if the remains belong to a man or woman, the age or cause of death, the release states.

DuPage County Coroner officials said they did not have any more information to release Sunday, but that a staff doctor would be examining the remains on Monday.
