Schaumburg recycling event set for April 20

To celebrate Earth Day, the Village of Schaumburg Environmental Committee, Schaumburg Township Elementary District 54 and the Schaumburg Township District Library will co-host a community-wide recycling event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 20, at the District 54 offices at 524 E. Schaumburg Road in Schaumburg. Document destruction will occur on site. There will be a limit of two boxes per village resident — the service is not offered to businesses. The event has been expanded this year to include such electronic items as computer equipment, household batteries, telephones, radios and small appliances like microwaves. Also accepted are textiles, automotive batteries, motor oil and antifreeze, holiday light strands, extension cords, computer wiring, bicycles, cell phones, eyeglasses, American flags, fire extinguishers and CFL bulbs.
