Columnist Cohen rewriting history

In his March 12 column on FDR, Richard Cohen states that “the war in Europe was not won by the United States, but more so by the Soviet Union.” I think he is guilty of rewriting history. I don’t remember the Soviet Union invading Normandy on D-Day, nor do I recall reading how it liberated France and Germany. That was done by the U.S. and the Allies. If it weren’t for our part in the war, there might not even have been a Soviet Union to take over Eastern Europe and keep those people in oppression for the next 40 years. Mr. Cohen needs to do some reading about what really happened in the war in Europe.
