Subscribers get some help with their golf game at event

More than 80 golf fans turned out Monday night at the Cantigny Golf Academy in Wheaton to celebrate the return of the Chicago golf season.

Longtime golf writers Mike Spellman and Len Ziehm of the Daily Herald previewed the local golf scene for Daily Herald Subscriber Total Access members attending the invitation-only event. The members were also treated to an overview and tour of Cantigny's Golf Academy by head professional Patrick Lynch and his teaching staff.

In addition to discussing the upcoming Masters tournament, Spellman and Ziehm recapped the 2012 Ryder Cup at Medinah and looked ahead to the BMW Championship at Conway Farms in Lake Forest and the Champions Tour event coming to North Shore Country Club this year, the Encompass Championship.

The golf fans there also got a chance to test their skills at Cantigny's facility, which offers indoor hitting bays, video swing analysis studios, club fitting, and golf-specific fitness training.
