Do the right thing for committed couples

In June 2012, my partner of 14 years, Jaime Laurita, and I were on the cover of the Daily Herald for our civil union ceremony being featured on Bravo’s Real Housewives of New Jersey. Since then we have continued to live our normal lives in Barrington, and many people have congratulated us for our very public decision to have our ceremony on TV.

Illinois is very close to passing the Freedom to Marry act which would allow Jaime and me to be married. Rep. Sullivan and the rest of the Illinois can make this happen by voting yes. I hope they can find it in their hearts to do the right thing for couples like Jaime and myself, couples who are in a committed, loving relationship.
