Delays persist on Metra after accident

Metra trains on the BNSF are running again but with delays of up to an hour and a half after a pedestrian was struck and killed this afternoon by an inbound train in Hinsdale.

Metra officials recommended that evening commuters find an alternative routes home as significant delays have persisted since the incident, which took place near Stough Street just east of the West Hinsdale station.

Trains were stopped in both directions while local police and fire officials investigated.

Additionally, CTA el riders are experiencing major delays on the red, yellow and purple lines because of signal problems where the three lines converge at Howard Street.
