A 34-year-old Palatine woman was injured Friday morning when her vehicle swerved off the road and into a tree.

Police Cmdr. Mike Seebacher said the driver was alert and talking and undergoing a series of tests at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge because of the seriousness of the impact and the possibility of internal injuries.

The driver, who was the sole occupant, called 911 at 8:05 a.m. after her 1998 Dodge Durango hit a streetlight pole, partially knocking it down, and collided into a tree on the 600 block of North Clark Drive, Seebacher said.

Accident investigators have yet to determine what caused the crash near Plate Drive, but early indications are that no other vehicle or person were involved, he said.
