Two top candidates for Elgin council

I want to endorse Steve Knight for Elgin City Council. He has lived in Elgin 13 years, and since being downsized from an IT job, has been one of the best volunteer guys I have seen in Elgin. And he is working full time at Home Depot now.

He supports the arts, and is Green, too — he even has LED lights on his porch. He has been to all the city council meetings in the last several years, and that with his background of living in other states enables him to address issues with practical answers and support. He supports the arts, as you can see from his list of volunteer activities including Art & Soul on the Fox, Nightmare on Chicago St., but also the social service agencies, like Neighborhood Housing Services, Neighbor Works Day, and is serving on the Eagle Heights Residents Association board for several years.

And also, I support Craig Dresang for Elgin City Council. He is a spokesman for the arts in Elgin, also, he is a proclaimed Green person. We all work together on sustainability. He is also a leader in the social services, since he is the director of the Congregational Churches social services grant distribution program-overseeing $90,000 in grants for agencies in the Elgin area.
