The GOP vote on gay marriage

Jason Barickman was the lone Republican who voted for the gay marriage bill. He voted for the bill because the majority of the people he represents wanted him to vote for the bill.

This is a rare occurrence in our government. It should be the norm. Our Founding Fathers gave us a Republic in 1787 when they wrote our Constitution. In a Republic the people elect people to represent them in a Congress.

The party of the representatives is to vote on an issue according to how the majority of his constituents want them to vote. Are we to believe that all of the other Republicans voted the way their constituents wanted them to vote? I do not believe this.
