First responders arrived two minutes later, authorities said, and the fire was declared under control at 11:42 p.m., following assistance from five neighboring fire departments.

No injuries were reported, but a preliminary damage estimate to the building and its contents was $500,000.

The Elgin fire chief's office will release a report on the cause of the blaze once an investigation is completed.
