Sequestration masks real problem

  • Article
text size: AAA

Can we ever expect politicians to stick to just the facts? I find it very disingenuous to hear all the hype about how devastating sequestration will be. The average citizen would not find it hard to cut $85 out of a $3,600 budget ($85 billion out of $3.6 trillion). If I were asked where to make cuts, I would start by cutting the salaries of our out-of-touch elected officials and cut pork barrel projects and other wasteful government spending.

The worst part of all this hype is that sequestration is nothing but a smoke screen to keep the public from the real problem. The 2.3 percent spending cut does not even address the major out-of-control budget items called entitlements.
