Volunteers Needed for Lombard Pride Clean Up

Invasive species that are particular targets for this clean up event are buckthorn and garlic mustard. Both spread quickly and crowd out native plants. By aggressively removing these two species, other trees and ground cover may spread into the sunlit spaces for a more diverse, vibrant and interesting environment.

Lombard's Environmental Concerns Committee Chair, Trustee Laura Fitzpatrick, exclaimed that "Volunteers in Lombard continue to be vigilant in the cleanup efforts to remove debris and invasive species. The Lombard Pride Clean Up is now a standard, worthwhile event in Lombard, one we can be proud of."

Volunteers are encouraged to register at publicworks@villageoflombard.org or (630) 620-5765 in order to obtain supplies, select a trail section, and balance the work.
