Endorsement: Soto for Bensenville village president

When Frank Soto unseated a longtime village president, he promised to take Bensenville in a new and better direction. Four years later, there still is work to be done but Soto has the village on a straighter and less contentious path than at any time in its recent past. He deserves a second term to continue the work he has begun to make government more responsive, restore financial stability and help the community build an image as a place where people want to live and work. Better still, village officials no longer spend the majority of their time embroiled in lawsuits. Soto’s two opponents, longtime park board member Richard Johnson and former ally and sitting Trustee Oronzo Peconio, make it clear Soto hasn’t won everyone over. But to change course now, especially if it means a return to some of the politics that for so long plagued the village, would derail any hope for additional progress. Soto is endorsed.
