Bank robbery in Elgin Saturday

A bank robbery took place on Elgin’s west side Saturday morning, police said.

According to a news release from the Elgin Police Department, officers around 9:15 a.m. responded to a report of a bank robbery at the Fifth Third Bank, 1645 Larkin Ave.

According to an FBI website, the thief was believed to be Hispanic, between 5 feet 2 inches and 5 feet 6 inches tall and in his mid 30s. He had a medium build.

He was wearing blue pants, a dark hooded sweatshirt, a blue baseball cap, dark glasses and white gloves.

No employees were injured in the robbery, police said.

Elgin police are coordinating with the FBI in the investigation.
