Carol Stream woman killed in Eisenhower crash

A Carol Stream woman died and three other people were injured early Sunday morning when her car was struck by another vehicle while pulled over along the Eisenhower Expressway in Chicago, Illinois State Police said.

Arquilla S. Jones, 29, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred about 5:45 a.m. on the eastbound side of the Eisenhower near Kostner Avenue, according to police and the Chicago Fire Department.

Police said Jones’ car was parked on the shoulder of the expressway when another vehicle struck her car from behind, killing her and injuring her passenger, who was transported at Stroger Hospital in Chicago.

The driver of the other vehicle was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, and that driver’s passenger was taken to Stroger. All three were described by state police as being in serious but stable condition.

State police said charges are pending against the driver. Alcohol is believed to be involved in the crash, police said.

The crash and ensuing investigation caused eastbound traffic on the expressway to be rerouted for about three hours, police said.
