Offended by mayor flooding remark

Regarding the Sugar Grove candidates, Village President Sean Michels’ comment that the Mallard Point flooding was not a village problem is offensive.

Yes, it did take a lot of engineering and surveying work to determine what the cause was. The end result was the subdivision was built without the proper amount of drainage.

This was not a newfound discovery. There is sufficient existing documentation that states at the time of development of the subdivision, the engineers were concerned about lack of proper drainage. The village required the various developers to install the required amount drainage, then proceeded to release the bonds being held before the work was ever completed.

I suspect the residents would have sued the village if they had deep pockets. Mr. Michels is not off to a good start in representing the community, but putting a wedge between them.
