Insurance proof part of plate renewal

This letter is directed to Helen Szybinski, who at the end of her letter on Feb. 6 wrote, “At one time I heard you had to prove you had insurance to get your license plates. All the years we owned a car, I never was asked about insurance” at the Secretary of State’s office.

Helen, I don’t know if you still own a car, but anyone receiving a renewal notice from Secretary of State Jesse White needs to flip over the envelope to fill out the “Mandatory Insurance Info” that appears on the back flap. To Mr. White and the people of the Secretary of State license renewal department: If Helen and her family weren’t filling out this information, as required, how many others have you missed?
