Mt. Prospect men charged with battery in response to Facebook comments

Facebook comments sparked retaliation that ended in two people being arrested for battery, Mount Prospect police said.

Ryan P. Hanley, 18, of the 200 block of North Emerson Street, Mount Prospect, and Matthew Kevin Guth, 20, of the 100 block of South Louis Street, Mount Prospect, were arrested around 3:45 p.m Feb. 1 near the 200 block of Forest Avenue and charged with battery.

Police reports said they drove to a home on the block, confronted a teenage boy about Facebook postings he had made, and punched him and pushed him down. Police reports said Hanley also bit the victim’s mother when she tried to stop him.

Their court date is Feb. 22.
