Accepting Grandma’s car can be costly
The letter by Mr. Falk about a $50 county tax was interesting to me because my grandson was just charged $200 for a county tax on a 10-year-old car gift from me. The claim is that a grandchild is not a direct relative.
So grandmas beware. The tax man cometh — even after six months and state and transfer charges were paid. I would like an explanation of how these fees can be imposed with no recourse to us.
