Questions & Answers

Some communities have contracted out for certain services, such as snowplowing, to save money. What innovative methods would you propose to reduce your office's budget? Explain your answer.

The Clerk is a part time position in this Village and has specific duties outlined. The Main Office Clerks fall under the daily operations of the Finance department.

The state's revised Freedom of Information Act guidelines renewed focus on open government. Name one specific step you would take if elected to increase government transparency in your office.

The Freedom of Information Act has an officer other than the Clerk that handles these requests. All requests are loggged and responded to as required by law.

Do you believe the village clerk should be an elected or appointed position? Please explain your answer.

I believe the Clerk should be appointed. An elected position should have the power to vote in which the Clerk does not.

What steps would you take as village clerk to improve and increase the flow of information to residents?

Since I hold a full time position in the Finance department, I am available full time as the Clerk to any resident questions. I also act as the local election official. We pride ourselves in this Village on communicating with the residents and will continue to use technology to accomplish this goal.

If you are a newcomer, what prompted you to run for village clerk? If you're an incumbent, list your accomplishments or key initiatives in which you played a leadership role.

As an incumbent, I am in the process of scanning all ordinances and resolutions into laserfiche for future preservation and reference. I will continue to transcribe the meeting minutes, maintain the Village Code books and keep the open commmunications with residents.
