Grainger January sales up 8 percent

Mettawa-based W.W. Grainger reported January sales increased 8 percent over the same period last year, the company said in a release.

The increase was a result of a 3 percentage point hike from volume, 3 percentage points from price, 1 percentage point from sales of seasonal products and 1 percentage point from acquisitions, the company said in a release.

The month of January 2013 had 22 selling days, as opposed to 21 selling days in January 2012.  U.S. sales increased 7 percent, while Canada sales were up 8 percent, the company said. Other Businesses (Primarily Asia, Europe and Latin America) increased 7 percent.
