Buffalo Grove Village Manager Dane Bragg said the village has saved residents $1.9 million on their electric bills in the first six months of electric aggregation. The village implemented the aggregation program for residential and small commercial customers in August, following voter approval. Bragg said he received a report from power provider Integrys Energy Services that showed the savings, with the added advantage that the village received 100 percent renewable energy, meaning it came from sources such as wind turbines. Buffalo Grove joined in a consortium with six other municipalities to negotiate lower power rates. The contract runs through July.
