Buffalo Grove deputy clerk honored at board meeting

Buffalo Grove trustees this week honored Deputy Village Clerk Jane Olson, who is retiring after serving the village for 25 years.

She “provided invaluable support to the village clerk for the last 25 years for all matters related to village public records and management,” according to the proclamation honoring her.

She managed the annual business and liquor licensing process while working closely with nearly 800 licensed businesses, and also served as an ambassador to the business community.

She worked with hundreds of individuals seeking answers to Freedom of Information Act requests and also helped with the Buffalo Grove Days Committee and the annual Civics Forum.

“I’m happy and sad at the same time,” village President Jeffrey Braiman said. “I’m happy because she has had a wonderful career. I’m sad to see her retire.”

He added that she provided invaluable support to members of the village board and staff.

“I have been really blessed to have Jane as deputy clerk for all these years, and I’m going to miss her,” said Clerk Janet Sirabian.

Olson, who leaves in March, said she wants to spend more time with her grandchildren.
