Des Plaines residents accused of residential burglaries

A joint investigation by Des Plaines and Park Ridge police departments has led to the arrest of two Des Plaines residents suspected in a string of residential burglaries on the Northwest side of Chicago and throughout the Northwest suburbs.

Multiple charges are pending against Mariusz Poplawski, 24, of the 9700 block of Bianco Terrace, and Sebastian Dybala, 23, of the 9300 block of Landings, said authorities, who have not yet determined the exact number of counts that will be filed.

Police had Poplawski and Dybala under surveillance and followed them to a Chicago condominium complex on the 8700 block of West Bryn Mawr Avenue, according to a Des Plaines police news release.

Poplawski entered the building and burglarized two condo units while Dybala waited in a parked vehicle, police said. Officers arrested Poplawski as he left the building, and Dybala was captured while trying to flee the scene in his vehicle, police said.

The Des Plaines Police Department has cleared four residential burglaries with further investigation to follow, police said.
