Island Lake mayoral hopeful Charles Amrich could learn in two weeks if he'll be allowed to run in April. Amrich is appealing an electoral board's decision this week to remove him from the ballot, and a hearing has been set for 10:30 a.m. Feb. 19 in Lake County circuit court to review the case. Amrich was ruled ineligible because a $174 debt to the village wasn't settled when he signed his statement of candidacy in December. The debt was paid by the time he submitted his paperwork Dec. 26, and his attorney has argued that's good enough. Amrich, a former mayor, hopes to challenge incumbent Debbie Herrmann for the job.
