Police say Mt. Prospect man banged on school bus, yelled at driver

A Mount Prospect man was charged with disorderly conduct after he banged on the side of a school bus and yelled at the driver, scaring the kids, during a traffic delay, police reports said.

Filip Grozev Filipov, 29, of the 700 block of Ivanhoe Lane, was arrested around 11:55 a.m. Jan. 27 at his apartment for an incident in an apartment lot on the 1300 block of South Elmhurst Road around 12:10 p.m. Jan. 25.

According to reports, Filipov could not drive out of the parking lot because a school bus was blocking his way. The bus, in turn, could not move because a second school bus was picking up a student and the stop arm was extended, preventing the first bus from moving.

Filipov walked to the first bus, which had four children aboard, pounded on the door, shouted that the bus should move out of his way, walked to the driver’s-side of the bus and continued to yell at the female Garden Prairie Transit bus driver, reports said.

The bus driver, who had pulled into the lot in order to let the children off, talked to them to keep them calm, because she felt Filipov’s actions were frightening the children, according to the reports. Officers traced the license plate on the car Filipov was driving. His court date is Feb. 13.
