Retired teachers deserve better

Soon I will be 77 years old. For 33 of those years, I worked as a public school classroom teacher sharing knowledge, exercising and continuously honing my teaching skills, and devoting countless hours of emotion to teaching other peoples’ kids. Many of my fellow retired colleagues and I are now in the autumn of our lives, and many elected officials and members of the citizenry think nothing of pulling the rug out from under us at this stage of our existence.
