No injuries from semi rollover in Elgin

text size: AAA

The driver of a semitrailer that rolled over on a highway ramp in Elgin walked away uninjured, according to police.

Illinois State Police District 15 Sgt. Steve Celmente said the truck was exiting westbound I-90 onto the southbound ramp of Route 31 around 5:41 p.m. when the load — two large pieces of machinery — shifted within the trailer, causing it to roll off the road.

"It was a very sort of slow roll onto its side," Celmente said, adding it was lucky that no one was hurt.

The truck rolled over into the ditch and didn't cause any lane blockage, Celmente said. The damage was less than $25,000.

No citations were issued, he said.
