DOWNERS GROVE — Magnetrol International said it plans to relocate its headquarters from Downers Grove to Aurora as the company accommodates the need for increased capacity.

Magnetrol, a manufacturer of level and flow process control instrumentation, expects the relocation to the Meridian Business Campus in Aurora to occur in the summer of 2013. The new 221,000 square-foot facility will more than double the company's production capacity, while housing Magnetrol's headquarters operation under one roof.

Magnetrol has been located in Downers Grove for more than 50 years and has enjoyed a close partnership with the village through a variety of community outreach initiatives. The decision to move was finalized after an exhaustive property evaluation within the village. The company said it is working with Downers Grove officials and the Downers Grove Economic Development Corporation to identify a new tenant or buyer for its existing building.

"Magnetrol's history, particularly our growth as a global instrumentation solutions provider, is entwined with the community of Downers Grove," said Magnetrol President and CEO Jeffrey K. Swallow. "Our employees — our managers, engineers, office and operations staff — have enjoyed the benefits of this vibrant environment. We have deeply valued our relationship with the Downers Grove administration."

Magnetrol also announced the expansion of its Magnetrol International NV facility in Zele, Belgium. The site is the company's regional headquarters for Europe, Middle East, Africa and India markets, and houses all manufacturing, sales and administration operations. The build-out of the facility, which will double production capacity, is scheduled for completion in fall 2013.
