See what St. Emily School is all about at open house

Saint Emily Elementary School in Mount Prospect will hold its annual open house from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27.

Founded in 1961, Saint Emily received the 2011 National Blue Ribbon Award from the Department of Education. The Blue Ribbon is the highest award given to schools by the national government. To qualify, test scores must be in the top 15 percent of the nation, which Saint Emily achieved in every subject and every grade.

As the school opened its doors for the current school year, the building was alive with new energy and new students. Enrollment in the school’s prekindergarten was at or near capacity in both the 3- and 4-year-old programs. The school’s kindergarten class increased by 27 percent. First- and second-grade enrollment, the school’s life blood, was also up 10 percent and 7 percent respectively. In total, nearly 50 families entered the Saint Emily School community for the first time, joining a rich history and supportive school family network.

To further the school’s growth initiative, an early education open house was held recently which successfully registered new students, some entering our prekindergarten program midyear.

The future looks very promising and the school is forecasting growth in the upcoming school year.
