Man jailed on sex abuse charges in Island Lake

Island Lake police have arrested a man for the sexual assault of a minor, officials said.

Adaberto Saenz-Garcia, 23, whose last known address was in Chicago, has been charged with criminal sexual abuse, aggravated criminal sexual abuse by a person responsible for the welfare of a child and aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a child under 17, police said. Police did not specify the child's age.

Using a search warrant on Jan. 13, police entered a home on the 3000 block of Poplar Street on a report of a sexual assault to a minor, police said.

Six cellphones and a video-capable iPod were seized and given to the Lake County Cyber Crimes Unit to be examined for digital evidence, police said.

Saenz-Garcia remains in the Lake County jail on a $500,000 bond.
