St. Charles man charged with possession of child porn

A St. Charles Township man faces a felony possession of child pornography charge after authorities found unlawful images on his computer, according to the Kane County Sheriff's office.
Refugio M. Padilla Jr., 34, of the 7N200 block of Barb Hill Drive, appeared in court Friday, when a judge set his bond at $70,000. He must post 10 percent of that to go free while his case is pending.
Sheriff's Lt. Patrick Gengler said Naperville police conducted the majority of the investigation that led to Padilla's arrest, then turned it over to the sheriff's department when they learned he lives in St. Charles Township.
The sheriff's office carried out a search warrant Thursday morning and found the illegal materials in Padilla's home, Gengler said.
Padilla is due back in court Jan. 30 at the Kane County Judicial Center in St. Charles.
