Bartlett woman charged after 2-week-old injured

A disturbance one night at a group home for youths in which a 2-week-old baby was injured led to a felony charge against a 19-year-old resident, Bartlett police said in a news release Saturday.

The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office and Bartlett police on Friday charged Asia Levels, 19, of the 900 block of Bartlett Road with aggravated battery and with misdemeanor battery.

Police were called to the home at approximately 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27. During the investigation, they found Levels had a verbal disagreement with an 18-year-old female resident who was sitting down with her baby. Levels allegedly grabbed the woman and threw her to the ground, which caused the baby to suffer a head injury, police said. The baby was transported to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates by the Bartlett Fire Protection District.

Bond for Levels was set at $75,000 Friday in Cook County court in Rolling Meadows. Her next court date is Feb. 7.
