Barrington bicyclist’s volunteerism wins award

Barrington resident Bob Lee has been named the winner of the 2013 Outstanding Volunteer Award by the Chicago chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

The prestigious award is given to the individual who has demonstrated exemplary volunteerism through the dedication of significant personal time, talents and resources.

Last fall, the 70-year-old Lee completed a solo bike ride from Canada to Mexico, raising $850,000 so far for the American Cancer Society, Les Turner ALS Foundation, Hospice Foundation of Northeastern Illinois and the National Hospice Foundation. It was Lee's third "Ride for 3 Reasons" in support of these causes.
