Lake Zurich restaurant fire:

An automatic sprinkler system is credited with minimizing damage caused by a Monday evening fire at the Kobe East restaurant, 769 Route 22 in Lake Zurich, Lake Zurich Fire Rescue Department officials said Tuesday. Fire officials said the fire appeared to be accidental and electrical in nature. Fire crews found light smoke in the building and the sound of water running when they arrived. Upon investigation, a burned/melted electrical strip was found. The fire was controlled and extinguished by activation of a single sprinkler head. As a result, the fire was contained to the room of origin and no further fire suppression activities were required. The fire companies assisted in salvage, water clean up, fire investigation, sprinkler system restoration, cause and origin investigation and standby for continued community service. Kobe East is awaiting health department approval to reopen.
