Multiple reports of BB-gun pellet vandalism in Des Plaines

There has been a rash of vandalism with BB-gun pellets in Des Plaines recently, according to police reports.

Two double-pane windows at Algonquin Junior High School, 767 E. Algonquin Road, were shattered by BB-gun pellets between 3 p.m. Dec. 31 and 7:30 a.m. Jan. 2, causing an estimated $500 in damages.

The front driver’s-side window of a 1998 Mercury Tracer was shattered by BB-gun pellets sometime between 6 p.m. Jan. 1 and 5 a.m. Jan. 2 on the 900 block of East Algonquin Road. Damage was estimated at $450.

Then sometime between Jan. 3-6, windows were broken by BB-gun pellets at four homes on the 1100 block of West Grant Drive, 1400 block of Oxford Road, 1300 block of South Second and 1400 block of South Fifth Avenue.

During the same time frame, vandals shot BB-gun pellets or threw rocks that shattered windows on 18 vehicles and caused an estimated $8,000 in damages on the 1300 block of East Howard Avenue, 1400 block of Oxford Road, 900 block of Webster Lane, 900 block of West Grant Drive, 1400 block of East Ashland Avenue, 1600 block of East Walnut Avenue, 1300 block of South Shagbark Drive, 1300 and 2000 blocks of South Pine Street, 1000 block of East Van Buren Avenue, and 1800 block of East Fargo Avenue.
