GreenMan holds auditions for ‘Secret Garden’

Elmhurst-based GreenMan Theatre will hold auditions next month for its production of the children’s classic “The Secret Garden” by Frances Hodgson Burnett.

The story will be adapted and directed by Linda Roberts, who has appeared in previous GreenMan productions of “Pride and Prejudice” and “Ravenscroft.”

Auditions are 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, and 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 11 and 12, at First United Methodist Church, 232 S. York Road, Elmhurst. Appointments are not required.

The show will run for eight weekend performances April 5-14. Actors are not paid.

The auditions will consist of cold readings of the script. Scenes used in the auditions will be available on the GreenMan website at greenmantheatre.com. Characters will be speaking in standard British dialect or with a Yorkshire dialect and actors who audition will be expected to audition using those dialects. There are a number of roles for young actors.
