Obama re-election: Back into bondage

Thank heaven for the Republican majority in the House. It is serving as a brake on the profligate spending of the Democratic administration. However, it is very disheartening to have to conclude that a voting majority has learned that it can vote itself largesse out of the public treasury, and will vote for the candidates who promise the most.

Common sense dictates that this cannot continue without some day causing the destruction of any democracy (republic). It seems appropriate to quote the following, which appeared on the Internet early in this decade: A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.

The average age of the greatest civilizations has been about 200 years. During that time, these nations went through these sequences: From bondage to spiritual faith; from spiritual faith to great courage; from courage to liberty; from liberty to abundance; from abundance to complacency; from complacency to apathy; from apathy to dependence; from dependence back into bondage. I believe that the re-election of Obama lends a great deal of credibility to this.
