Palatine police traffic safety campaign nets six arrests

The Palatine Police Department's Christmas/New Years Holiday Traffic Safety Campaign netted two arrests for driving under the influence and two for possession of cannabis, the department reported.

Officers issued 42 tickets for seat belt violations, three for speeding, four for no insurance and nine for all other traffic violations.

Through a traffic safety grant supplied by the Illinois Department of Transportation, an increased number of patrol officers were on the roadways enforcing traffic laws. Their focus was to get impaired motorists off the streets and enforce seat belt and child-restraint use.
