Obama’s re-election hardly a mandate

text size: AAA

I have seen many people saying that by being re-elected, the president was given a "mandate" to implement his radical socialist policies. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Let's take a realistic look at those who elected him.

There are a number who voted for him because they didn't like his opponent or something his opponent stood for.

There is, of course, the entitlement crowd who always votes for liberals because they are more likely to give out more "free stuff." Then there are the racists of all ethnic backgrounds who voted for him because he is black. The unions brainwash their members to vote for the Democrats because Democrats stand with "big labor." Many people who vote have no idea what their candidate stands for, they just mindlessly vote along partisan lines.

Finally, the president was re-elected by a smaller margin than in his original election. That is hardly a "mandate."
