Fox Valley Young Professionals pitch bags for Lazarus House

Submitted by Fox Valley Young Professionals Network

The Fox Valley Young Professionals Network hosted a successful bags tournament Nov. 18 at Alley 64 in St. Charles. With the funds raised, the network was able to donate $385 to the Lazarus House of St. Charles and $235 went toward the its professional development fund.

The Lazarus House serves persons who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and the professional development fund helps bring in speakers and programs geared toward enhancing its members’ professional abilities.

The 14-team, double-elimination tournament had heavy competition and plenty of laughs for a good three hours until Team Kenny happily took home the $100 grand prize. The Fox Valley Young Professional Network would like to thank all of the participants for making it a successful event, Alley 64 for donating their back patio, and a special thank you to Dan Bates of Alley 64 who won the 50/50 raffle and generously donated the $150 to the Lazarus House.

Katie Speranske, marketing assistant for Batavia Enterprises and participant in the competition, said, “This was my first time attending an FVYP event and now I can’t wait to see what they do next. It raised money for two really great organizations and was such a good time. Their turnout brought in so many people it filled Alley 64’s entire outdoor seating, which was great to see.”

The Fox Valley Young Professional Network’s mission is to develop and enhance its members by providing opportunities to get involved and make a difference in the professional, civic, and social aspects of the Fox Valley. Through the programs and resources delivered by the FVYP, young professionals will be provided with more opportunities to develop professionally, get connected and flourish.
