The community is invited to celebrate the holiday season at a free family-oriented program of music and dance from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, at Northern Lake YMCA, 2000 Western Ave., Waukegan. "Reason for the Season" was initiated to create a positive attitude for the children participating in the Y's PEAK after-school program, but has been expanded to include community attendance and participation. The event features a musical performance by the PEAK students, who will be joined by pastors and community groups. There will also be a group sing-a-long, refreshments, and arts and crafts. Those attending will receive a Megallo 3D board. Persons interested in joining the program by donating their talents (singing, playing a musical instrument, dancing) or goods can call (847) 775-7109.
