South Elgin Lions Club needs your help

With the holiday season fast approaching, the South Elgin Lions need the community’s assistance with its annual holiday food baskets.

For the past three years, the Lions have assisted approximately 200 South Elgin families and distributed approximately 6.75 tons of food and toys each year. Last year the Lions started collecting used coats as well. This year the Lions are extremely short of their goal to raise enough money and collect enough food in order to serve families in need, not only in South Elgin but in the surrounding communities.

Beginning Monday and continuing through Dec. 21, the Lions Club will be handing out holiday food baskets to families. Any family requesting assistance should contact the Lions at (847) 888-9575 to register in advance since the club cannot guarantee there will be enough holiday baskets available for walk-ins.

Any left over food will be donated to the South Elgin Food Pantry. Any left over toys and coats will be donated to a local organization to be determined.

If you have any questions, contact Linda Scham at (847) 809-9102 or Leo Snyder at (224) 629-0180 or (847) 888-9575.

The South Elgin Lions Club is at 500 Fulton St.
