West Chicago Sister Cities Makes a Holiday Donation of Culture

West Chicago, Ilinois: December 11, 2012 – Visitors to the West Chicago Public Library will find additional cultural enrichment this holiday season thanks to a recent gift by the West Chicago Sister Cities (WCSC) organization. WCSC has donated three German film DVDs and three German opera DVDs to the Library’s already extensive collection of entertaining and educational DVDs. Two of the operas donated are on the current Lyric Opera season schedule, Hansel and Gretel and Die Meistersinger.

All the DVDs have subtitles and have won either U.S. or German film festival awards. This is the third year that WCSC has made a donation to the Library, including materials on German traditions and a dual language book and CD.

West Chicago has a sister city relationship with Taufkirchen, (Vils) a small town in Germany. For over 10 years there have been multiple opportunities to visit Germany and stay with families, as well as to host Germans visiting West Chicago. The Community High School District 94 jazz band will be performing in Taufkirchen (Vils), Germany in March 2013, .
