Bernacki withdraws candidacy for Hoffman Estates trustee

Former Hoffman Estates Park District Commissioner Craig Bernacki has withdrawn his candidacy for village trustee, according to Village Clerk Bev Romanoff.

Bernacki said in August he was interested in running against Mayor William McLeod in the spring 2013 election. But after current Trustee Ray Kincaid announced he would challenge McLeod, Bernacki decided to go for one of the three open trustee seats instead.

He filed to run for trustee on Nov. 26, but withdrew last week, stating that he believes there were other qualified candidates, such as Gayle Vandenbergh, and he would throw his support behind them.
