Wheeling man charged in Lake Zurich restaurant stabbing
A Wheeling man faces three counts of aggravated battery in connection with a stabbing last week outside a Lake Zurich McDonald’s, police said Sunday.
Maxwell S. Younger, 21, of the 600 block of Cherrywood Drive, was taken into custody Friday night by authorities investigating the Dec. 5 stabbing in the restaurant’s parking lot.
The charges — aggravated battery with great bodily harm, aggravated battery at a public place and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon — are Class 3 felonies punishable by a maximum two to five years in prison if he is found guilty.
Younger was transferred to the Lake County jail, where he was being held on $50,000 bond.
The victim, a 21-year-old man, was stabbed twice in the abdomen, according to a statement released by Lake Zurich police Cmdr. David Bradstreet. He was taken to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital near Lake Barrington.
Authorities believe the stabbing was preceded by some kind of altercation in the parking lot at 653 S. Rand Road.
