Give hockey a go at Crystal Lake clinic

The Fire Wagon Hockey Yellowjackets invite boys and girls ages 4 to 10 to the Crystal Ice House, 320 E. Prairie St., Crystal Lake, for a “Try Hockey for Free” clinic.

It will be at 1:50 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15. Arrive 30 minutes prior to start. No experience is necessary; equipment is available in limited quantities.

Register at and click on “Try Hockey For Free.”

Another free hockey event will be from 12:40 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16.

“Try Hockey For Free Day” is part of Come Play Hockey Month in February 2013. This program, designed to provide youth hockey associations a national platform to introduce new kids to the sport, is a joint effort between USA Hockey, the National Hockey League, Total Hockey, Liberty Mutual and the Yellowjackets.

It also is a component of USA Hockey and the NHL’s collaboration with the Let’s Move! Initiative to help the nation’s youth lead healthier, more active lives through hockey.
